International fans

I seem to have acquired some international fans on my blog. For some odd reason I've been deluged (slightly) by comments that appear to be in Chinese. While it's all well and good to get international recognition for my efforts it makes me a little suspicious. There is no English in any of the comments and they appear to be a web link as well. Methinks I shall avoid clicking, just to be on the safe side.

The opposite of up

That would rather adequately describe the last few days. First was an utter spanking at cricket on Saturday, and not in the kinky-but-good sense either. Then today it turns out our network suffered yet another major failure around 1am in the morning, which lead to huge amounts of scurrying around as we tried to get things working again. We've decided to tow ourselves outside the five mile limit (10 points if you get the reference) so that was a large part of today. The network came up again eventually, but only in fits and starts. Printing and scanning was an issue, the web and other services kept dropping out and to top it all off a rogue script misbehaved thanks to the lack of a network and deleted large chunks of rather important data from our servers. Thankfully our (my!) backups functioned as desired and I was able to start restoring what was lost.

Oh, and tonight I can't get access to my units on line. Not a good start for the academic year.
